Our 11+ Experience
We are a South-East London family. Our son sat grammar and independent 11+ exams, and our biggest lesson was this: aiming at several schools at once is where the confusion starts.
We aimed at several schools, and each exam looked different: multiple choice, written maths, creative writing, interviews. It felt like preparing for five exams at once.
How it went for our son
- Kent TestAlmost full marks
- Bexley Selection TestTop 180
- St Olave's Grammar SchoolOffer
- City of London SchoolOffer
- St Paul's SchoolOffer
- Eltham CollegeOffer with a high scholarship
- Colfe's SchoolOffer with a high scholarship
Every child is different. We share this so you know the advice comes from a real 11+ year, not to promise the same for yours.
The turning point was seeing that the exams overlap far more than they differ. Our School Exam Types guide shows how they line up.
What we learned
- Rank your schools first, then make one plan rather than a separate track for each.
- Most practice counts for every school; only a few extras differ, such as written maths, creative writing or an interview.
- Little and often: short daily sessions, wide vocabulary, and coming back to mistakes a few days later.
This platform turns those lessons into one practice plan for your ranked schools.
