Medway grammar schools
Medway has six grammar schools. They use their own test, the Medway Test, which is separate from the Kent Test.
The test
Medway Test
Three multiple-choice papers: English (30 minutes), maths (50 minutes) and reasoning (45 minutes). One test for the six Medway grammar schools, separate from the Kent Test (only Chatham Grammar accepts either). English and maths count double; the reasoning paper includes spatial reasoning.

- 18 May – 12 June 2026 (no late entries)
- Test
- 15–16 September 2026 in Medway schools; 19 or 20 September at a test centre for other children
- Results and offers
- Results 14 October; offers 1 March 2027
Based on last year's dates (September 2027 entry). Schools have not published dates for September 2028 entry yet, so always check each school's own website before you register.

Rochester
- The Rochester Grammar School
- Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School
- Some Medway grammar schools have recently changed whether they take boys, girls or both, so check each school's website.
- Families near the Medway and Kent border often sit both tests. They are different tests on different days.
